The Garden

Ah - my garden. It started out so promising... I have used a lot of herbs and we've used one tomatoe so far. The broccoli has me baffled - I never feel like it's quite ready to pick, but then it blooms and I've missed the ability to pick it - hmmmm. My first banana pepper is visible and we'll hopefully be able to eat that soon. I checked on my leeks and onions and they look like they have a ways to go. Definitely an adventure. My new camera makes my garden look fabulous - gotta love that :).

She's Crafty - Fabric Ribbon Dress

My mom is at it again - she's having so much fun making clothes for the girls - I may never want to buy "regular" clothes again :). She made Bridget this adorable dress by combining a halter shirt pattern with a dress pattern - she's so awesome. This picture says it all - Bridget feels like a princess in the dress!!!

Classic

A good story to share. This weekend was Bill's 20th high school reunion. We had a new babysitter on Saturday night and I told her we'd be back around 10:00 pm. Since your 20 year high school reunion only happens once I was a good wife - when we had to go relieve the sitter I told Bill to stay and I would take care of the girls. I got home, the girls were great, I paid our sitter, I got ready for her to go and I quickly realized one thing - our new sitter is 13 and I had to drive her home. Which was going to be difficult since I left Bill at his reunion. Anyone who knows me knows how completely anal I am about my children's sleep schedules - so it will be no surprise that after I couldn't get a hold of Bill or my sister it took me 5 minutes to even think of waking them up and taking them with us - it just didn't even dawn on me. So, I woke up my soundly sleeping children to take the new babysitter home - she probably thinks I'm crazy :). Bridget didn't speak for about 10 minutes - and when she finally did she asked, "Where are we going?" Like I said - CLASSIC!

She's Crafty - Birthday Crowns

So I had such high hopes for my birthday crowns. They sounded so great - homemade, special, something you can bring out every year, etc. etc. I took the idea from Amanda Soule's The Creative Family book - AWESOME BOOK! I enlarged the template by sight since my copier doesn't enlarge at home and of course I had to make them RIGHT away (bad idea). You will see in the pictures below Bridget is squinting - I'm sure it's because her crown is so tight she can barely see :). Lucy's wasn't as tight - but her letters and jewels starting falling off. SO - I love the idea, but I need to work on my product :)!

We all made it!!!!

Summer Party

Party's are so much fun. What a treat to have a bunch of friends over on a day that started out crazy hot and turned into a beautiful night!

It's not a party...

without Sausage Wontons! In anticipation for our Friday night Soiree I thought I would share Sue's fabulous sausage wonton recipe. Mom is coming over tomorrow morning to make a bunch to freeze for the party. These are so tasty...

Sausage Wonton's by Sue

1 1/2 lbs. sausage, browned and drained

1 pkg. wonton wrappers (produce section)

1/2 C. chopped jalapeno olives

1/2 C. chopped red pepper

1 C. shredded cheddar

1 C. monterey jack

1/2 C. ranch dressing (or enough to moisten)

Put wontons in mini-muffin tins to form a pinwheel. Fill with sausage mix. Freeze or bake at 350 for about 10 minutes.

And since I have so many pictures to share - here's one of Lucy eating watermelon. It doesn't perfectly tie into my post - but she's eating something! :)

New Camera

Oh my gosh I haven't blogged forever. I got a new camera for my birthday and I'm totally obsessed (what a surprise). I'm trying to convince Bill and Katy that I'm already taking photo's that could be called art - but no one is buying it :). Here are just a couple faves - I took the one of the girls on the swing and Bill took the one of Bridget...

The new camera is so awesome - but it takes FOREVER to upload all my new pics to Shutterfly. In just four short days I took 180 pics - that I actually saved. The excitement will die down right? Okay - one more...
