Trouble with a capital T

Lucy has been nicknamed the Christmas Destroyer around here. We now have more ornaments off the tree than on courtesy of Lucy :). She is the happiest kid around right now - who knew it was ever possible!! She already has a tendency to smirk at me when she's naughty, ignore me when I'm telling her not to do something and make the funniest faces I've ever seen. She is just a JOY right now. And of course, some pics to prove it...

She just keeps 'em comin...

Right before bath time, with her Princess cell phone in hand, Bridget stated, "Oops, I just texted Lucy!" Seriously, how does she even know what texting is?!?!?!?

She's Crafty - felted sweater jumper

Althought most of my crafting time has been spent sewing for the bridgt&lucy line lately, I have snuck in some other things. This jumper was made with wool sweaters I bought at a thrift store, which I then felted and then cut up to make this jumper. The pattern is from Warm Fuzzies. Bridget is thrilled with it because since it's wool, and therefore very toasty, she can wear it even now with below zero temps all week.

Bridget quote

"We have a dilemma - and it's on the table!"

Bridget has been learning about dilemma's at school and how to solve them. This quote was priceless. She fixed her dilemma with wipes. Wipes do solve almost anything :).

The Right Track

I really feel like mom and I are on the right track with bridget&lucy the clothing line. Last night when I had to start tagging our product for the show today I really just wanted to go to bed. Then I actually sat down and started tagging and I got giddy. Here's to staying giddy !!!

Ahhhh

"When Santa sees this tree I bet his smile will look beautiful" - Bridget

Bridget helped me decorate this table top tree today. I had to write down the quote because it was so cute! Notice the close-up shot were there is a huddle of ornaments perfectly placed at Bridget's height. :)

Back on!

After a week of stomach flu, that fell right over Thanksgiving - I'm back! With a lot of domesticity to catch up on; I was on it yesterday. Bridget and I made strawberry muffins for her preschool snack, I made vegetable beef stew to eat and freeze and I put together skirts and aprons for sale on etsy starting tomorrow night or probably Friday morning! WHOA! It's like I'm back from the dead - which it actually kind of felt like while I was sick. I'm back!

My own Mop Top

I've become slightly obsessed with making my very own Mop Top (the hat in our bridget&lucy line) - what a surprise. The hats really look SO cute on kids, I needed my own version. So - mom and I made a quick adult size pattern and here's the first attempt. The first pic is Lucy in her Mop Top - and then mine! Although I did not adorn mine with tulle and ribbon, I hope you can see the slight glitter of my fabric in the bottom picture :). Oh, the obsessions :) ...

The birthday girl - not to be overlooked

In the madness of sewing like a crazy woman, our baby turned 3! It was definitley the last year we were able to get away with a family only birthday party - she flat out asked me why she wasn't having a kid's party - ouch :). We all had a blast - beautiful cake, great company and a brand new puppet theater! She "bought" the princess dress with her piggy bank money with Nana - I wonder who really bought the dress :)! I have to bribe her to get it off, she even wore it ot the Dr.'s office - they were thrilled!

WOW!

The Open House was amazing. It was so fun to share our first sale with so many wonderful friends!!! Really - it was all we had hoped for and SO MUCH MORE!!! I don't have any pictures - because there wasn't a second to take any! At the end of the night we had one skirt, one apron and two hats left - that's it! UNBELIEVABLE!!! Mom and I are already planning for a lot more sewing! WHAT A TREAT!!!

Funny teeth

When Bill and I were in Nebraska for a football weekend with friends - he didn't do much shopping. Sara and I had a blast at Sephora with Tami who gave us tons of advice on our serious addiciton to Bare Escentuals - BUT - like I said, Bill didn't buy much - except a whole box of fake teeth on sale for $2.99. Chaos ensued at bath time the night we got home! Bill and I were laughing so hard at the girls - I'm laughing now just looking at the pics.

Our first show - invites out!

Well - I've addressed most of the invites to the first open house for bridget&lucy and I will get them stamped and in the mail tomorrow. Bill has gotten involved and found a sewing house in California that can take over the production of our products when we can't handle all the business ourselves anymore - thanks honey, you're always thinkin' big!!! Although I don't see that happening anytime soon, I'm thrilled to have the contact when we need it :). Off to sew!!!

Election Day - All in the Family

So - Katy (my sister) works for the Congresswoman in South Dakota and finished her first election cycle in her position last night. Sara and I got to be at the Party Headquarters to celebrate - it was so awesome! I was so interested in the election this year and watching Katy go through the process on the inside only enhanced it. She worked so hard. For the last month of the campaign she would be in the office WAY early (like earlier than my kids get up some days - and that's early!) and she would leave long after 5:00. But she did it pretty happily - hardly any complaining whatsoever - just mostly excitement for the process and anticipation for the end result. Well she ROCKED IT!!! To be able to celebrate with her last night after watching and hearing about all her hard work was the best ever. I'm so glad you're back in South Dakota Katy!!!! And of course; pics...

Sara and I at Starbucks just after voting - yes, we were really that excited!

Obviously having the best time ever at the victory party!

Proud mama and papa with Katy.

And Todd got to be here to celebrate too! Could it have gotten any better?!

The Real Deal

Halloween was a blast for the girls!!! They hit a Halloween party, then both grandparents' house and then Bridget and Buzz Lightyear (Mr. Fletcher) when around the neighborhood with their dads. Todd is in town from Honduras and got to see the whole deal! Check out how Bridget just swoons over Fletcher :)! We couldn't have asked for anything better... (except maybe skipping the small fender bender I was in, bummer! There were no mermaids or crabs injured in the small fender bender :))
