We are THAT family

Last Saturday we were the family at the restaurant with the choking baby. Lucy had been eating crackers and she started coughing a little. Coughing turned to gagging and we started to really draw attention. The attention didn't bother me - having your child choking is the WORST feeling, and we couldn't figure out how to help. Luckily she was getting more than enough air, something was just stuck and not moving. Everyone wants to help a baby. The women across the aisle told us to put her arms above her head, tilt her down and pat her back. We tried and tried. Then a mom from around the aisle came over, grabbed Lucy and gagged her 3 times. Now - anyone that knows Lucy can only imagine the horror for her - a stranger gagging her could be her worst nightmare at this point. Well, after the third gag she coughed up a tiny piece of plastic wrapper from the crackers. Everyone survived although Lucy was not happy about any of it. We profusely thanked the woman who gagged our child many times. So - that was last Saturday. Today we were at a different (thank God) restaurant for lunch and Bridget couldn't sit still to save her life. She would move from her butt, to her knees, then turned around to stare at the table behind us - don't you love it when you all of a sudden are having a stare down with a toddler? Anyways, as I pushed her chair in towards the table for the millionth time, she pushed it back for the millionth time but this time it didn't slide - it fell right over. Cue another restuarant scene. Bridget was traumatized by the fall, but not injured. We again thanked all the people who made sure Bridget was okay and left. In the car all I could think of is we are totally THAT family. The family you see at a restaurant doing anything but dining quietly. I honestly never thought that would be me.

That was scary. Did the woman literally stick her hand down Lucy's throat? What a scary couple of minutes. Very funny post besides the scary part!

It was scary - and yes she stuck her finger right down Lucy's throat! I was panicked enough that I didn't even care :) - I'll have to check out the new blog.
